Experiences of undertaking EIA and HRA side by side - Webinar

1st November 2013

Many major development proposals that have potential negative interactions with European Designated sites (Natura 2000 sites - SAC & SPA) will require both an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and a HRA. The two assessments derive from European law, the EIA Directive (2011/92/EU) and Habitats Directive respectively. Whilst the over-arching ambitions are similar – to offer greater protection to the environment when consenting new development - their scope, level of detail, required scientific rigour and terminology vary.

The differences between EIA and HRA can make the consenting process more complicated for developers. This webinar will explore some of the issues that arise in practice based on the experience of organisation’s registered to IEMA’s EIA Quality Mark Scheme.
