The UK's accreditation body is looking for certification bodies to participate in a pilot programme assessing organisations offering installations and assessments under the government's flagship home improvement scheme.
Due to launch next October the Green Deal will offer homeowners and businesses the opportunity to carry out work to improve the energy efficiency of their properties using a long-term loan attached to the building.
Climate change minister Greg Barker announced in June that DECC was working with UKAS to develop certification standards to protect users of the scheme from cowboy companies.
The standards are still in the drafting process, but UKAS has already announced that it will accredit certification bodies willing to participate in a forthcoming pilot. The accreditation body has also stated that DECC may offer financial support for those taking part in the pilot.
