The Water Act 2014 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2014 brings two sections and one Schedule of the Act into force. From 14 July water companies may be charged for regulatory operations by the Drinking Water Inspectorate, extending a previously temporary power. Notice publication requirements under the Land Drainage Act 1991 are also revised on this date. From 1 October 2014 the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales will become responsible for maintaining main river maps, which must be kept electronically. Fees may be charged to access these maps.
