The UK Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is consulting on the future of energy & carbon reporting.

This webinar is your opportunity to learn about the consultation and to understand and feedback on key issues and considerations. This is an important opportunity to influence and improve UK environmental policy.

In March 2016 the UK Government committed to consult on a reporting framework for introduction in 2019, alongside announcement of its decision to close the CRC scheme working with the devolved administrations, following the 2018-19 compliance year. Now that the consultation is live, Government is seeking views on:

• Mandatory annual reporting and disclosure of energy and carbon information through Company Accounts

• Who these requirements should apply to

• Reporting of cost-effective energy efficiency opportunities, e.g. those identified through ESOS audits, and action taken on these.

• Complementary disclosures

• Electronic reporting and guidance

This webinar will introduce and review these core elements, and will outline developing responses from environment and sustainability professionals (i.e. developing views and practice considerations on the key consultation questions). The webinar will include feedback opportunity and will help IEMA members and others in developing their own responses to BEIS on this important consultation.

Notes:

• The BEIS consultation deadline is 4th January and all documents are available here

• Additionally BEIS has published an ESOS interim evaluation report which can be found here

• IEMA’s Climate Change and Energy Position Statement can be found here
