Circular Economy in Practice: Designing out waste - How to embed Circular Economy principles at the outset of building construction projects
This webinar will discuss how the use of circular economy principles in the design of buildings can help reduce their material impact.
Covering multiple design themes, such as design for service and sharing or design for deconstruction, the session will make reference to Stuart Brand’s book ‘How Buildings Learn’ and to case studies of projects led by Useful Projects, exploring how circular economy thinking can be applied to the design of each of a building’s seven ‘layers’.
Participants in this session will gain:
o Practical guidance around embedding circular economy thinking within design teams and organisations;
o Understanding of the importance of balancing a strong brief and CE targets with organisational readiness;
o An overview of how to set out a simple decision making process for effectively embedding CE principles in building
design.
