The Plant Health (Forestry) (Amendment) (England and Scotland) Order 2014 amends the Plant Health (Forestry) Order 2005. The UK is made a protection zone for four pests: Chestnut gall wasp (Dryocosmus kuriphilus), Oak processionary moth (Thaumatopoea processionea), Sweet chestnut blight (Cryphonectria parasitica) and Plane wilt (Ceratocystis platani). Bronze birch borer (Agrilus anxius) is added as a further pest with additional mandatory controls Requirements on wood packaging to be imported from outside the EU are extended to cover materials not in use, including dunnage.
Heat treatment requirements for non-EU conifer wood and bark are extended.
