Environmental Impact Assessment - UK
Enters into force - 16 May 2017
The Offshore Petroleum Production and Pipe-lines (Environmental Impact Assessment and other Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendment) Regulations 2017 implement amendments made to the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Directive 2011/92/EU by Directive 2014/52/EU.
The amendments made require further factors to be taken into account in environmental statements (ES) for offshore oil and gas projects requiring an EIA. The regulations expand the scope of information to be submitted when requiring a screening decision and decision criteria for screening by the appropriate authority are extended. ES's must also outline the qualifications of relevant experts preparing them and must be based on the most recent scoping decision.
