Planning Regulations 2015
1 April 2015
Northern Ireland - planning
The Planning (Development Management) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2015 sets out procedures for the management of applications for regionally significant, major and local development under the Planning Act (Northern Ireland) 2011. Thresholds and classes established distinguish these types of development.
Major and regionally significant development applications made on or after 1 July 2015 will be subject to mandatory pre-application community consultations. Pre-determination hearings are also required for these developments where referred to the Department of the Environment for call-in consideration but returned to the local council for determination.
Local non-contentious applications may be delegated to appointed planning officers by councils through schemes estalbished.
