The standards body BSI has developed guidance for businesses on managing the risks and opportunities of biodiversity. BS8583 is aimed at organisations that want to manage their impact on biodiversity for the benefit of their business.
It explains what biodiversity is and why it is relevant to businesses and other organisations; advises on how to assess biodiversity impacts; explores ways to manage biodiversity, for example through supply chains; and gives advice on protecting and enhancing biodiversity.
It also outlines a four-step process to improve biodiversity and provides examples of opportunities and risks in the context of global, national and local targets, and UK policies, the BSI said.
