This webinar, part of IEMA’s “Adapting to COVID-19” series, explored the challenges being faced by the waste sector and the potential implications for businesses and households.
Significant changes in waste streams, capacity issues, contractual requirements to meet unachievable performance criteria (e.g. recycling targets), keeping workers safe, meeting Duty of Care obligations, stockpiling – these are just some of a long list of issues that need to be addressed.
In this session, Jacob Hayler, Executive Director at the Environmental Services Association (ESA) which represents waste and resources companies, outlined the key issues and action that is being taken to tackle them.
Jacob also participated in a Q&A discussion with Martin Baxter, IEMA’s Chief Policy Advisor.
