As the government announce the consultation for implementing of the new Biodiversity Net Gain requirement, IEMA’s Director of Policy and External Affairs Martin Baxter said:
“Reversing the decline of the natural environment will require important contributions from new development and nationally significant infrastructure projects. Proposals to deliver a minimum of 10% biodiversity are welcome, but there must be effective monitoring and enforcement to ensure that Biodiversity Net Gain plans are delivered on-the-ground and are durable over the long-term.
Getting Biodiversity Net Gain right has been a key focus area for IEMA and it will continue to be so throughout the course off 2022.”
