A Liberal Democrats policy briefing on air quality, launched on 20 May by Simon Hughes MP, has
calculated that exposure to air pollution contributes to 24,000 premature deaths in the UK each year,
including 4,400 Londoners.
The figures are based on an analysis of European Environment Agency data.
