The maker of the iconic London black cab expects new environmental regulations in the capital to boost sales of its latest model. Manganese Bronze launches the TX4 today following a 5m investment programme and it expects increased demand as cabbies overhaul their vehicles to comply with new carbon emissions regulations.

Around 17,000 black cabs in London do not meet an EU emissions standard - Phase Three European emissions - that must be met by all taxis in less than two years' time.

"Current vehicle sales are ahead of last year and we anticipate a further uplift in sales from the new TX4 model and the introduction of new emissions regulations in London," said Tim Melville-Ross, the chairman of Manganese Bronze.
