The search is on for England's Farmer of the Year. This brand-new competition will award the farmer who is not only top of their field in farm management, but also in conservation and taking care of the environment.

The Environment Agency Countryside Farmer of the Year 2005 title is one of a range of awards up for grabs as part of the Farmers Weekly Agricultural Awards.

Farmers are rarely rewarded for the time and energy they spend looking after the countryside environment. Many farmers also put extra effort into everyday farming that helps protect and enhance the quality of our soil and water.

In launching these awards, Farmers Weekly and the Environment Agency want to publicly recognise the valuable contribution that farmers make to our environment and inspire them to see this role as being at the heart of their business. More details and application forms are available at:
