IEMA members from across the region came together to discuss everything from circular economics to net zero and biodiversity.
Lynne Malpass PIEMA, head of environment and industrial risk at SUEZ UK:
The Renew Hub takes up half of a warehouse in an existing Suez facility, where the other half is used for standard household materials recycling.
Rebecca McLean MIEMA, head of sustainability, energy water and environment at Sweco UK:
If you have been to a municipal waste site – a ‘tip’ – you may have spotted a shipping container or portacabin where items too good to throw away are kept for direct resale to consumers.
Ian Stenton PIEMA, National Sustainability Programme Manager at NHS England:
What Suez have done in Manchester is create a centralised upcycling facility in Trafford Park where those unwanted goods are taken to, repaired by experts, and sold back to the community or donated to charity.
IEMA hopes to continue bringing members together at events like this one in future. Keep an eye on your emails to check out events near you.
