James is the Director of Levelling Up, the Union, Climate Change and Sustainability (Dir LUCCS) in the UK MOD. His key responsibilities cover: delivering the Department’s Climate Change and Sustainability Ambitions; ensuring that Defence is adapting and will be resilient to the impact of climate change, working to mitigate its environmental impact; enhanced its sustainability policy and capability; and supporting Union and Levelling Up activity across the Defence. Additionally, James is also responsible for climate security policy and looking at the direct and indirect impact that climate is having both on Defence force structure as well as the causes of instability across the globe.
