Eminent business leaders and experts from around the world are converging for the first Global Business of Biodiversity Symposium this month, the most important meeting place for Government, Business and NGOs operating across all industrial sectors. It is the only place to be for informed dialogue and debate in the run up to COP10 - Nagoya.
This unique private-sector focused business and biodiversity conference, supported by Defra and BIS, will see the launch of the highly anticipated 'The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity' (TEEB) report from study leader Pavan Sukhdev. The TEEB for Business report, will offer attendees an insight into how business and enterprise have a huge role to play in how we manage, safeguard and invest in our natural capital. The report provides practical guidance to businesses on the issues and the opportunities created by the inclusion in mainstream business practices of ecosystem and biodiversity related considerations.

ISO14001, EMAS and other management systems and tools are widely used by the private sector. A number of innovative tools are being developed to assist companies in understanding, minimizing, mitigating, monitoring and disclosing their impact on biodiversity. This session provides practical guidance on how companies can integrate biodiversity into existing management systems and processes, realizing efficiencies and costs savings.
