The Fellows Network represents IEMA’s highest membership level. Fellows demonstrate their competence at the pinnacle of our profession and the Network helps to share expertise and insights across the Fellowship.
The Fellows Network was established to provide a strong and unified voice for our leading sustainability professionals. Through its Steering Group, the Network has developed a strategy and action plan to accelerate a global move towards a more sustainable world.

The Fellows Network Strategy outlines the Strategic Aims shaped by Fellows and is the first step to an inspiring, ambitious and impactful Fellows Network to be proud of. Fellows have created a more detailed Fellows’ Action Plan describing targets, metrics and a timeline which will be managed and reviewed annually by the Steering Group. This plan will help navigate the future and guide Fellows in how to support IEMA’s goals.

EmailDr James is a leader with extensive expertise in environmental management, sustainable development, quality management, safety management and strategic planning. Specialising in SDG and ESG reporting and benchmarking for companies, Dr James drives positive change for operations to align their operations with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Dr James has a Ph.D. in Management specializing Sustainability and Carbon Footprint Measurement, and author of ’Sustainability Footprints in SMEs – Strategy and Case Studies for Entrepreneurs and Small Business’ and ‘Management Systems and Performance Frameworks for Sustainability’
Diana has 35 years of professional experience including energy efficiency, waste market development, environmental management, water conservation, sustainability reporting and rural diversification. For each of these areas, she has worked on a collaborative basis with government organisations, charities and businesses at a local, regional and national level. A major part of her work in recent years has been managing projects that improve the energy efficiency of social housing through energy retrofits. This work presents both exciting opportunities and significant challenges, but Diana is always considering the bigger picture when it comes to conserving natural resources and mitigating climate change. Being part of the IEMA Fellows Steering Group presents a real opportunity to work with like -minded professionals who want to make a significant difference towards achieving a sustainable future.
Sustainability professional with experience in sustainable practices in a business context leading to increased productivity and greater efficiency to transition companies towards a low carbon economy. Completed an MSc in Environmental Management from Hertfordshire University in the United Kingdom. Proven record in business change and stakeholder management to create a culture change to embed sustainability at all levels. History of stakeholder engagement including active participation in sustainability organisations; the Sustainable Business Network, the Environmental Professionals Network and the Packaging Forum of NZ. Strong ability to build effective teams and to lead people with a history of valuing the contribution of employees in sustainable business practices and protecting the environment.
Allan Wickham is the Head of Occupier Sustainability at CBRE Ltd. He helps businesses align their real estate portfolio with their sustainability and ESG goals and leads CBRE's own internal strategy towards Net-Zero. He has extensive experience in delivering Net-Zero Carbon, renewable energy procurement, carbon credits, wellbeing, and social value projects for corporate occupiers. He joined CBRE from NatWest Group, where he led the bank's climate strategy for its global operations. He is also a Trustee of YMCA St Paul's Group, a charity that provides accommodation for young people who face homelessness. He is co-chair of the Owner Occupier Forum of the Better Building Partnership.
Since 2018, Andrew has been leading a rail industry level decarbonisation research programme. This initially supported the Rail Industry Decarbonisation Taskforce. It has included projects to assess the industry's footprint, consider interim targets and pathways to the industry achieving net zero, looked at how to bring hydrogen and battery trains into service and developed industry-level decarbonisation action plans and supply chain management.
Andrew’s career has demonstrated his lifelong interest in sustainability including policy making and legislative development, municipal and chemical waste management, land use planning and development, nuclear safety, aviation security, emergency response management in a range of organisations including global private companies, government-owned organisations and consultancies across a range of sectors, including transport and logistics, construction, civil engineering, natural resources, retail and media. More recently, he worked in rail decarbonisation, authoring the Rail Industry Decarbonisation Taskforce report to the Minister for Rail. He has worked on the editorial board of the ICE’s Engineering Sustainability journal as well as sitting on their environment and sustainability panel. He is a member of the IEMA East of England Regional Committee. Andrew has been a trustee for his local alms house association, is a governor for his local primary school, and is a director for a small property management company.
Charles joined iCON Infrastructure in 2022 as Head of ESG and Safety. He is responsible for enhancing the firm’s approach in areas of HSE, ESG risk management and sustainability across the investment life cycle from maritime and renewables to telecoms and healthcare. Charles has had a long career in consultancy with 5 as Technical Director at WSP (UK) and 17 at Royal HaskoningDHV in UK, Netherlands and Bahrain. He has vast experience in the maritime sector, international finance, growing teams, project management (>100 EIAs) and sustainability strategies. Complementing this is in-house experience at international terminals’ operator DP World as Global Environmental Manager (2008–2012) where he masterminded carbon footprinting for all terminals, while encouraging initiatives towards the 27% reduction target. He has chaired technical committees for the EEEG (carbon) and PIANC (climate adaptation).
Gareth is the Founder and MD of Terra Infirma Ltd, a sustainability consultancy specialising in Sustainability strategy, employee engagement/culture change and strategic advice. Terra Infirma has supported a wide range of blue-chip clients across the globe. Gareth is the author of 5 books on business and sustainability, runs the Net Zero Business Academy training webinars and hosts the Net Zero Business Podcast. He has been an elected member of Newcastle City Council for 19 years and is currently Opposition Spokesperson for Environment and Sustainability.
Rosemary is the Chair for the Midlands Regional Steering Group a position she has held for over 13 years and is a Fellow of IEMA. She is a senior lecturer in Geoscience at the University of Derby. Alongside lecturing her work has included technical manager for the DE-carbonisation project working with SMEs on a variety of projects to reduce their carbon impacts. She is passionate about all things sustainable and is Chair of the Fairtrade Committee at the University working to ensure the continued commitment to Fairtrade. She is also on the Responsible Futures group which promotes ESD throughout the education provision. She is about to submit her DPhil at UWE, on the topic of ISO14001: the benefits and barriers to implementation. She is also an honorary Fellow with the Environmental Association of Universities and Colleges (EAUC) in recognition of her work to further environmental management within the sector.

Simon is an environmental professional with more than 30 years' experience as a sustainability practitioner, consultant and trainer. He is a committed student of sustainability and has enjoyed pioneering roles across the profession. He has been active in a diversity of fields, sectors and disciplines both in the UK and internationally. These include management systems, waste & resource management, international standardization, life cycle thinking, footprinting, sustainable procurement and environmental remediation, amongst others. He is currently immersed in biodiversity enhancement, ecotourism, eco-education and bee farming. Simon has a passion for helping people develop their professional capabilities and for enhancing the standing of our profession. He is a former Chairman of the Institute and currently serves as the Institute's Chief Assessor for MIEMA/CEnv.
Simon is the Institute’s first Fellow and a former Chairman of the organisation. He has enjoyed more than 35 years leading change as an environmental and sustainability professional. Much of his working life has been delivering environmental and sustainability consultancy across very diverse private and public sectors in the UK and internationally. Simon’s work in international standardisation has contributed to the development of standards in fields such as life cycle assessment, sustainable procurement, various forms of footprinting and, of course, various environmental management systems. Simon now runs a biodiversity organisation dedicated to enhancing habitat for bees and other pollinators. In his own words he “now makes a positive environmental impact instead of just helping others feel a little bit better about doing slightly less badly”. A passionate contributor to IEMA Professional Standards, he is the Institute’s longest standing assessor for MIEMA and C.Env. and served as the Institute’s inaugural Chief Assessor until 2024. He is also a Fellow Assessor.
