Re-thinking how we supply and use water in the UK in the light of climate change is an urgent priority. There are challenges in both adaptation and mitigation. A changing climate is expected to place further stresses on supply, especially in some areas already facing the task of accommodating rapid expansion in new housing. At the same time, the water sector has both a substantial carbon footprint, and a potential for renewable energy not yet fully exploited.
