DEFRA Publishes Science Note on Climate Change and Seeks members for Scientific Advisory Committee

New Defra science note on climate change Defra has produced a science note on climate change the second in a series of science notes intended to give a snapshot of the science and technology projects that Defra funds.

Defra Scientific Advisory Committee vacancies Defra's independent Science Advisory Council (SAC) is currently seeking 4 new members. The SAC helps ensure that Defra's policies are based on the best scientific evidence available and is looking for individuals who can make a strategic contribution in advising on Defra's use of science.

Desired attributes include a broad understanding of scientific fields relevant to Defra and a commitment to help improve the contribution that science makes in Defra's approach to its policy responsibilities. The ability to work effectively in committees is important; as is the ability where appropriate to offer constructive challenge to expert thinking.

The SAC are also keen to hear from individuals who feel they could bring a lay person's wider perspective to SAC deliberations. Please note that the deadline for all applications is Friday 16 September 2005. Late applications will not be considered. Applications are available online at
