US Kyoto scepticism will draw comfort from a UK House of Lords report slamming the United Nations' International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) for being under political influence. The Select Committee on Economic Affairs of the House of Lords - the Upper House of British Parliament whose powers and influence have steadily decreased over time - has published a report on 6 July 2005 warning about the negative economic implications of UN and UK climate policies. The report comes as the G8 meets under British chairmanship in Gleneagles (Scotland) to discuss a possible action plan to tackle global warming.
