With soaring gas prices, more people may be turning to hybrid cars. The Sierra Club says hybrid cars are not just great for fuel efficiency, they also improve air quality.

It was just like being in any other car, it is fine, the pick up was fine, we were on the highway and in town and I thought it was great, said Davidson Town Board Commissioner Cary Johnston.

It is not just one's wallet that stands to gain from the electric-gas cars. In fact, the Sierra Club says the environment is the real winner.

Hybrid cars are a proactive, practical way to improve air quality because they have reduced tailpipe emissions and they also save money at the pump, said Christa Wagner of the Sierra Club.

Wagner says it is even more important for people in the Charlotte area to care because the air quality is poor.
