Republic of Ireland: Sustainability and the Built Environment

In this webinar, Ellie Walshe, Senior Sustainability Manager for Davy Horizons and a member of IEMA Republic of Ireland Steering Committee discussed incorporating core sustainability and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) metrics into their tender and post completion standards. With end clients from large multinationals and governmental bodies now incorporating core sustainability and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) metrics into their tender and post completion standards, how does the imposition of sustainability and ESG metrics impact the construction and engineering industries? What is the importance of having a sustainability vision for employees? The science is clear – to avoid the most catastrophic impacts of climate change, we must limit global warming to 1.5°C. Governments, society and businesses tackling climate change are zooming in one target – net zero emissions, to achieve this critical 1.5°C pathway by 2050. With the construction and operation of buildings accounting for 39% of energy-related CO₂ emissions globally, the built environment needs to step-up and showcase its role in the transition to more sustainable world. One that satisfies the needs of the present without adversely affecting the conditions for future generations. This webinar is ideal for those working in the construction or engineering industry and for those who want to find out more about sustainability.
