Do you want to build a foundation understanding of what ‘Natural Capital’ and ‘Ecosystem Services’ really mean? Perhaps you’re curious as to how these approaches can help us transform the world to sustainability? Maybe you’d like to know how these approaches are applied in real life? Even if you’re already an expert, this topic is constantly evolving, so maybe you’re looking for an update on latest developments?

IEMA’s Biodiversity and Natural Capital (BANC) Steering group are pleased to host a ‘back to basics’ webinar with a presentation from Tim Polaszek, Engagement and Education Director at the Capitals Coalition. Tim has experience in using natural capital approaches as consultant, identifying, measuring and valuing ecosystem services across the Caribbean, West Africa, and Oceania. He now leads engagement and education at the Capitals Coalition.

Tim will introduce the main concepts behind a natural capital approach, why they are needed, and highlight the important role of biodiversity. He will illustrate how it can applied to support decision making using examples from both the UK and internationally. Tim will be joined by panellists Penny Borton (Senior Associate Director, Jacobs) and Faye Durkin (Head of Ecology and Natural Capital (North), Greengage Environmental) who will share how they use natural capital approaches in their work. The session will be chaired by Jonathan Nichols (Associate – Natural Capital, AtkinsRéalis).

There will be an opportunity for Q&A between the audience and panel.

This is the first webinar in a new series from IEMA’s BANC group – look out for session 2!
