IEMA publishes guide on mandatory reporting
IEMA has published an interim briefing note to help environment professionals prepare for the introduction of mandatory greenhouse-gas (GHG) reporting
Following confirmation at Rio+20 that all firms listed on the London Stock Exchange will be required to report their GHG emissions from 1 April 2013, IEMA has outlined guidance on key elements of the policy.
Ahead of the publication of draft regulations, expected at the end of July, the briefing provides information on which companies will need to report under the new legislation and what data they are likely to need to publish.
According to the briefing, the new regulations are likely to require firms to report on their Scope 1 and 2 emissions, but they will not prescribe a specific methodology, allowing firms to use their existing reporting methods.
IEMA also confirms that the new legislation will require companies to report on both their gross emissions and their emissions intensity.
