IEMA announces CEO move
Adrian Belton, chair of IEMA board and Martin Bigg, chair of IEMA council, announce the departure of Jan Chmiel
“Jan Chmiel, CEO of IEMA (the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment), is leaving to take up the position of CEO Institution of Occupational Safety and Health.
“Jan has guided IEMA since 2009 and provided a clear vision and leadership. He leaves at an exciting time for the profession, with skilled and competent environmental professionals increasingly playing a central role as change agents within organisations, addressing the challenges and opportunities created in moving to a sustainable economy.
“Jan worked with the support of a strong senior management team, who will continue to work with the board in delivering IEMA's vision and providing support to IEMA's members.
“Jan will continue to work directly with the board of IEMA over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition whilst his successor is recruited.
“On behalf of the IEMA board and council we would like to thank Jan for the immense contribution he has made over the last three years. We will be sorry to see him leave but he does so with our best wishes.”
