Free advice for firms on electric fleets
Businesses considering investing in electric vehicles are being offered free expert advice from the Energy Savings Trust, in a bid to encourage the creation of more green fleets
In a new scheme funded by the Department for Transport and Transport for London, the trust will help up to 20 organisations to examine their existing fleet and analyse where traditional petrol or diesel powered vehicles could be replaced most cost-effectively with electric ones.
As a part of the programme the trust will model the costs associated with running electric vehicles throughout their life cycle, following the approach it used in a recent research report that found organisations could save up to £700 a year by switching from diesel to electric vans.
“Forward-thinking businesses know that sustainability is not just ‘doing the right thing’ – it can actually increase profits and reduce fuel consumption,” said Robin Haycock, project liaison manager for the Energy Saving Trust. “We’ll be helping the leaders in the field make a real change.”
The scheme aims to have the participating firms deploy their new electric fleets by the end of the year.
Businesses interested in participating have until 18 May to apply. For more information and to request an application pack contact the Energy Saving Trust on 0845 602 1425 or [email protected].
