Environmental Permitting (Amend) Regs 2014

The Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2014 makes a number of changes to the environmental permitting regime. Environmental permits for waste and mining waste operations may be issued before planning permission is in place.

A registration scheme is introduced for low risk releases to groundwater from ground source heating and cooling systems. Local authorities will no longer be required to maintain public registers of permits in addition to those operated by the Environment Agency.

Further changes come into force on 1 October 2014.
