Environment Agency hunt for environmental services

The Environment Agency has launched a new project to develop a framework of suppliers to provide flood-risk management and environmental services to the public sector.

The agency’s Next Generation Supplier Arrangements project will establish a new supplier framework for the procurement of construction, river and coastal engineering, flood modelling and environmental services to aid the delivery of £150-£220 million of local development projects from 2013.

The framework, which is being created to help streamline public sector procurement, is expected to run for up to six years and will be used not only by the agency for its projects across England and Wales, but will also be available for use by other authorities with a flood and coastal risk management responsibility as well as other public bodies and government departments.

Companies offering environmental consultancy and services such as mapping, modelling, investigation and appraisals are being encouraged to learn more about the project and consider registering their interest in the framework.

While the project is at an early stage, the framework will be advertised in the Official Journal of the European Union shortly and potential suppliers will soon be invited to formally express their interest.
