North Wales Digital Event: How To Prevent Water Run Off Pollution

5th June 2020

The session looks at prevention of water run off pollution.

Our first North Wales Regional webinar featured speaker David Cole Technical Director at Sandfield Penstock Solutions, looking at the prevention of water run off pollution. The Environment Agency (EA),Natural Resources Wales (NRW) and Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) are using guidance developed by CIRIA on Containment Systems for the Prevention of Pollution (CIRIA C736) as its main reference point when looking for evidence that a business understands water pollution risk. The webinar looked at current practices highlighting mistakes and possible designs that the regulator may no longer accept.

Topics covered in the webinar included:

a) Reliability of systems in place, this includes the removal of the term penstock valve for stopping drainage flow.

b) Disaster containment volumes.

c) Evidence-based spill mapping to simplify the process of developing a solution using existing infrastructures and flow paths.

This session is ideal for any business owner, Director, consultant, or EHS professional managing permits or building project. It is equally useful for anyone with an interest in how we prevent all water pollution in a practical way. If you are currently dealing with permit variations or challenges to develop an EMS, the webinar should help you identify key areas to use.

This webinar is brought to you by the IEMA North Wales Regional Steering Group.

*This event is recognised as 1 hour of IEMA CPD
