Diversity in Marine Development: Exploring the weird and the wonderful in UK Coastal Waters

5th May 2021

This webinar moved the focus away from the typical ‘headline grabbers’ in marine development and considered some of the more unusual marine development which takes place around our UK coastline.

The UK’s major successes in the field of Offshore Wind mean it is a topic frequently considered by our professional community. Closer to shore, there is a diverse range of fascinating marine development; this webinar considers three specific topics and the collective challenges – and opportunities – related to ‘niche’ inshore development.

This webinar is perfect for practitioners working within marine development – or with an interest in it – who are keen to expand their knowledge of the more ‘unusual’ activities taking place in our marine environment.

Engage with this webinar to gain an increased understanding of the role that our seas can play in supporting a diverse range of activities. You will also learn about some of the topic-specific challenges that our speakers have encountered during the development and marine consenting process for a range of more ‘unusual’ topics, including marine-cooled data centres and fish farm development.

Our speakers come from a varied background spanning aquaculture, marine power and transport and included:

  • Ed Walker, Principal Environmental Consultant, AECOM
  • Seren Dussuyer, Principal Consents and Environment Manager, Transport for London
  • Ben Johnson, Environment Development Manager, Cooke Aquaculture
  • Dr Rufus Howard, Impact Assessment Policy Lead at IEMA
