Case study of Nuclear Power using IA, EM and Auditing

8th September 2020

This webinar was designed to inform all parties involved in NSIP process and provide a unique evidence base for future NNBs/NSIPs for practitioners interested in, or working on, development projects and focuses on providing an overview of monitoring/auditing/ environmental management over the construction of an NSIP development.

New nuclear build (NNB) projects, have long life cycles and can have major local and regional environmental and socio-economic impacts. The impacts of the construction stage can be particularly damaging, if not managed well. The issue of monitoring and auditing of actual, as against predicted, impacts is an Achilles heel in the planning and assessment process.

A recent Oxford Brookes University study funded by the New Nuclear Local Authority Group (NNLAG) provides a unique insight into the actual local impacts of the early construction years of this Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP). It provides vital evidence for future NNB and NSIPs. The study identifies KPIs, examines monitoring data for these KPIs, and audits the findings against the predictions. The study is already having significant effects on the developer and local authority monitoring and management of the current HPC project, and the planning and impact assessment of the proposed Sizewell C.

This webinar counts for 1 hour of CPD, so don’t forget to add it to your IEMA CPD Portal. This can be accessed through your member account on iema.net.
