Carbon and greenhouse gas (GHG) management are important issues for the environmental profession and now form a core theme of IEMA's work. Last year, we ran a series of consultation workshops where members expressed their experience and advice on GHG reporting and in so doing helped to influence the final GHG reporting guidance for organisations (as issued by Defra/ DECC in September 2009).
- These workshops aimed to work with members to establish an understanding on the effectiveness of carbon and greenhouse gas (GHG) management and reporting, along with the key issues and challenges in this important field.
Through these workshops members were able to;
- Learn about approaches from experienced colleagues and peers
- Discuss the findings of IEMA's recent practitioner survey (on GHG/ Carbon)
- Debate and identify key issues, challenges and barriers for the profession
- Develop both your own and IEMA's understanding on the effectiveness of GHG management and reporting
Outcomes from the workshops will help to inform IEMA's developing programme of activity on Climate Change, from guidance and training, through to policy and public affairs work. Building from these sessions, IEMA will complete a 'special report' on GHG management and reporting for use in representing the profession and influencing Government and other key stakeholders (including Defra / DECC's effectiveness review on GHG reporting later this year as required under the Climate Change Act).
The presentation from Nick Blyth, Senior Advisor, Climate Change is now available
