IEMA's Magazine Has Transformed

The name and focus of IEMA’s brand new membership magazine has just been revealed.

Posted on Aug 24, 2017

The new title, Transform, directly derives from IEMA’s mission statement to “transform the world to sustainability”. It encapsulates the innovative, brave and transformative work carried out by IEMA members across the globe every day.

The overarching editorial direction for the magazine is to provide interesting, relevant and challenging news, features and articles across key environment and sustainability themes. The content will be inspiring with a practical undertone that helps members to learn, develop and implement change in their organisations. The interviews, beginning with an interview with Jonathan Bartley, co-leader of the Green Party, will be bold and provocative, the debates will take on challenging issues and several areas will profile and celebrate members’ work and achievements.

Transform, which will be published 10 times per year, will continue to deliver essential news and updates on key legislation and regulations and case studies of pioneering practice around the world. It will also offer thought pieces, policy insights and stunning photography that provides regular food for thought.

Tim Balcon, CEO of IEMA, said today “We’re very excited to launch Transform, and I’m sure members will see a very visible difference in not only the look of their membership magazine, but the editorial direction and attitude towards tackling the big issues.”

“We’ve developed Transform, root and branch, based on member feedback about what they collectively and individually need from the magazine. We took the title’s entire direction from what members told us is important, and the result is something that really reflects our values to be bright, open and brave. I look forward to hearing what members think of their new magazine.”

Transform replaces IEMA’s previous magazine the environmentalist, however the full archive of issues and articles will remain online at iema.net and the magazine’s online home.

A new website for Transform and refreshed jobs board will follow in October.

Issue 1 of Transform will be published on 1st September 2017.

An interview with Jonathan Bartley, co-leader of the Green Party should avoid any political views. The interview should ask how the Country's economy will be sustainable before spending goes out of control on green party issues.

Wishing 'Transform' every success. With the IEMA team, IEMA members and other key players behind it, I'm sure it will be highly informative, and highly influential.

Great to see a lot of effort going into moving the magazine forward - the mission and direction sounds promising. I'm sure we'll all see the fruits of the team(s) labour very soon. Many thanks and keep up the hard work!
