Foresty Commission to make UK's Towns and Cities Greener
The Forestry Commission has formed a partnership to make the UK's towns and cities greener. The Urban Regeneration and Greenspace Partnership was launched at the ParkCity conference in London last week. It will bring together government departments and agencies councils and community and environmental groups to demonstrate the value of green space in and around towns and cities as well as offering best practice and case studies.
The use of urban green space is increasingly seen as playing a vital role in regeneration said co-ordinator Tony Hutchings from the Forestry Commission's research agency.
This can involve for example transforming a derelict area of ground into a park where people can meet talk and play. We look forward to working with parties from all sectors to establish more green space in towns and cities and realise the benefits that it offers.
