Designing waste facilities : a key guide to modern design

Defra in partnership with the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) have produced guidance on the design of waste facilities: Designing Waste Facilities a key guide to modern design in waste.

The aim of the guide is to provide a central resource that will allow professionals to access best practice from other development sectors and make informed choices about the design of new waste development.

The document provides strategic guidance which can be applied to all waste facilities whatever the size; from smaller community facilities such as civic amenity sites and compost units on estates to larger Combined Heat and Power facilities.

This guide is not just aimed at waste management companies planning authorities or a waste disposal authorities but also professionals engaged in the procurement or development of waste facilities.
