Australian Farmers Committing to Carbon Reductions

Farmers and other country groups are uniting in a new alliance to fight climate change. The Agricultural Alliance includes the South Australian Farmers Federation Agforce from Queensland and the Country Women's Association. Its focus is to significantly reduce emissions by 2050 and allow farmers to play a role in the emissions trading scheme. Wayne Cornish from the South Australian Farmers Federation says rural Australia does not always get credit for tackling the problem of climate change.Collectively we should be able to make a much better fist of this than we are at the moment he said. Agriculture accounts for 16 per cent of the total national carbon emissions.
