Sustainable Learning, a new programme providing a structured, task-based approach to managing energy and water use in schools, has been launched by BRE in association with DfES.

Many schools adopting this approach have already reduced energy and water use and costs.

Highly visual certificates reward schools for their achievements.

Schools Design Forum (SDF) workshop report SDF is a new initiative that brings together leading practitioners committed to changing the way sustainability is understood, delivered and shared in schools.

A recently published report (BR492) outlines the responses from an SDF workshop on the sustainable design of schools, and provides a stimulating and wide-ranging insight into how the built environment can play its part in making the learning environment more sustainable.
