Defra Sustainable Development Action Plan launched

One of the commitments in the UK Government sustainable development strategy, Securing the Future, was for all government departments and their executive agencies to produce a Sustainable Development (SD) Action Plan by December 2005. Last week, Defra published its plan, bringing together actions towards sustainable development for its policies, operations and as an employer. All Defra policies are intended to contribute to sustainable development and the action plan gives details of the key actions to be taken in 2006 towards each of the UK SD strategy priority areas. The action plan will be updated in mid-2006 to add new actions where appropriate.
