UN Decade on Education for Sustainable Development - UK Launch Tuesday December 13th 2005 Institute of Education London The UN Decade on Education for Sustainable Development led by UNESCO was launched in New York earlier this year.

To mark the UK launch the UK National Commission for UNESCO is holding a launch conference on Tuesday December 13 2005 at the Institute of Education London.

Speakers will include a DfES Minister; a senior UNESCO programme specialist; and well known expert in the field of ESD Professor William Scott from the University of Bath. Break out groups/seminars will address problems of climate change building skills and capacities culture and community and the role of the media and information and communication technologies (ICTs).

The Conference will be chaired by Sir Geoffrey Holland who is the Chief Executive and Chair of the Learning Skills and Development Agency. The conference aims to be unique - not just in linking global and UK policies but also in the long term (10 year) perspective it adopts.
