Sceptical US Senator Now Sounds Alarm on Global Warming

Sen. Lindsey Graham has never been known as a friend of the environmental movement. The League of Conservation Voters for example gave the Seneca Republican failing grades on its 2003 and 2004 report cards.

And Graham angered environmentalists in March when he voted to open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling. But in Alaska this last week Graham sounded an alarm on global warming.

He said he will consider voting for legislation that would force industry to cut its emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. “Global climate change is a different issue” than the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge he said. “I’m trying to learn. The more I learn the bigger believer I become.”
