The World Conservation Union (IUCN) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) have agreed to intensify cooperation in strengthening global efforts to protect the earth, its forests, its wetlands, its biodiversity and its vitality for human wellbeing and development.
The Millennium Ecosystem Assessment completed earlier this year vividly shows the threat to human well being and prosperity resulting from the unsustainable use of many of the world's valuable ecosystems. The assessment reminded us all of the essential services provided by nature.
