IEMA responds to Autumn statement

Responding to today's Autumn Statement from Chancellor Jeremy Hunt our Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Director of Policy Martin Baxter said:

“We welcome the Chancellor’s re-statement of the UK’s international climate commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 68% by 2030. Energy efficiency has a key role to play in the net-zero transition cutting costs for households and has long been a policy area where little progress has been made.

The energy we don’t use is the cheapest and cleanest and therefore the Government’s commitment to reduce the UK’s fuel energy consumption from buildings and industry by at least 15% by 2030 against 2021 levels is a welcome boost in translating climate ambition into action.”
