IEMA reacts to new PM Rishi Sunak

Reacting to the first speech from Prime Minister Rishi Sunak where he mentioned protecting our environment Sarah Mukherjee MBE chief executive officer of IEMA - the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment said:

The new Prime Minister faces significant challenges in his first 100 days in charge and within the context of the environment it is important that he acts early.

Businesses and the economy more widely need urgent clarity on the government’s net zero strategy and the PM should commit to engaging personally with the outcomes of the Skidmore Review.

Ultimately investing in green jobs and skills will enable us to tackle the climate crisis and enhance UK productivity.
