IEMA corporate partner Southampton FC to face Arsenal at ‘Greener Game’

The Premier League's Southampton Football Club an IEMA corporate partner will be playing in the first ‘Greener Game’ against Arsenal at Southampton FC’s home stadium St Mary’s on Saturday 16 April 2022.

This first Greener Game will be taking place in the lead up to Earth Day on 22 April and will provide Southampton and Arsenal supporters with a wide range of opportunities to enjoy a more environmentally friendly match. The game forms part of Southampton FC’s sustainability strategy called The Halo Effect which helped land the team third in the Premier League’s sustainability league table after Liverpool and Tottenham.

The club will be providing fans with a free and discounted vegan food single-use plastic waste recycling on the day and for fans who choose to travel by car to the city a free park and ride service and at half-time The Halo Effect ambassador and Southampton FC Women’s player Katie Rood will be taking to the pitch to talk about her passion for the environment.

“We hope that at the Greener Game we can challenge people’s views on the importance of environmental sustainability and encourage our fans to think about the different ways in which we can all help protect our planet.”

Fans will be able to take home wildflower seeds to plant at home with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust handing out activity packs and prizes as part of their Wilder Southampton project. Supporters will also be able to take photos in front of a stunning living wall made up of 192 plants with the opportunity for fans to make their own personal environmental sustainability pledges.
