IEMA CEO Statement

Tim Balcon has announced that following a short period of compassionate leave he is stepping down from his position as IEMA CEO to concentrate on looking after his seriously ill wife.

In an open letter to members Tim said “I have felt hugely privileged to be the IEMA Chief Executive. I have been inspired by the passion expertise and sheer determination of our members to change the world to be a better place. I leave you with a very capable team in IEMA who will continue to take forward our vision.”

Following this sad news the IEMA Board have appointed Toby Robins FIEMA Former Operations Director as the Interim Chief Executive.

“On behalf of the Board members and staff of IEMA I would like to thank Tim for the way he has led our organisation since 2013. He leaves IEMA strongly positioned for the future with a growing membership both in the UK and internationally. Our thoughts and best wishes are with Tim and his family at this difficult time. IEMA will always be grateful for the important contribution Tim has made to the progress of the organisation and to the environment and sustainability agenda.”
