Sellafield represents one of the most environmentally challenging facilities in the world. In addition to the high profile and heavily regulated management of wastes, the sites faces the same challenges as most other large chemical facilities.

Candidates will be involved in all aspects of environmental sustainability, ranging from impact assessment to the improvement of the wider issues of environmental management systems, to corporate strategy. These areas of work involve the analysis and manipulation of data to identify trends and propose solutions for improvement.

Continued development is extremely important in reducing the environmental impact of the site. As a result, Graduates will be offered secondment and training opportunities, structured to meet individual needs, with the aim of achieving Chartered status in the relevant discipline. Whichever discipline an individual chooses, one thing is for certain; from the very first day this scheme provides a real job with real responsibilities. There is also plenty of support on hand from individual mentors and line managers.


EDF Energy

The EDF Energy Nuclear Science & Engineering Graduate Scheme offers a unique opportunity to gain skills and experience in nuclear power generation. Over the course of 12 months, graduates spend time in at least two of our eight UK-based nuclear power stations. They have the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the world’s leading nuclear power experts. All our Nuclear Science & Engineering graduates work towards chartered status in their field of expertises. With regards to formal training, graduates benefit from several weeks’ intensive residential technical, commercial and personal development at our Nuclear Power Academy in Gloucester.
