Being a member of IEMA is a journey with real and exciting goals. Each stage of the journey calls on you to play new roles, whether through doing, influencing, developing, learning or leading.

Please note that upgrades carry a one-off upgrade fee to cover the cost of the upgrade process - this is a separate payment to your annual renewal fee, so please ensure that your existing membership is up to date at the time of upgrading.

Student

Upgrade to Graduate if you’ve completed a degree which featured significant sustainability content within the last three years. Upgrade to Practitioner if you’ve spent a year in industry as part of your studies and can demonstrate enough practical experience. Upgrade to Associate if you’ve recently graduated with a degree that didn’t contain sustainability content, but you’d like to build a career in this profession. If you don’t already have the knowledge, you will first need to take a recognised course or qualification, such as the Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management, and then complete an online assessment to qualify.

Upgrade to Affiliate if you’d prefer to simply stay connected to the industry and IEMA’s valuable professional network, rather than actively gain professional recognition at this time.
