Job Details
Solihull’s motto is ‘Urbs in Rure’, meaning ‘Town in the Country’. And with over 1,500 acres of parks and open spaces in Solihull, it’s easy to see why this motto suits the borough. Solihull benefits from an exceptional environment and high quality places to live. There’s a remarkable shared sense of ambition for people and place: our residents are at the heart of everything we do, and we always put them first.
This is an exceptional opportunity to build on a decade of progress in shaping a high-quality and sustainable environment within a positive, resident-focused culture. There’s enormous potential to do much more, and the ambition to realise it. The Council has a vital role in providing a quality and sustainable environment, and you’ll exemplify how we can both provide outstanding services to residents, and continue to make progress towards net zero.
While this role isn’t purely focused on climate change, the services you’ll lead will be firmly set within that context. Candidates should have extensive practical experience of leading the Environmental and Highways Services portfolio (including waste), be highly skilled at procuring and managing major and complex contracts, and have a passion for environmental sustainability.
Visit www.faerfield.co.uk/solihull for more information. To arrange an informal conversation with our advising consultants Dawn Faulkner or Sean Anderson, please call 0121 312 3755.
Closing date: 5th June 2024.
Company
In keeping with the Council’s motto ‘urbs in rure’ (town in the country), Solihull’s natural environment is one of its greatest assets. Preserving nature and enhancing biodiversity plays a vital role in the fight against climate change. Planting 250,000 trees over a period of 10 years will help offset a proportion of the borough’s carbon emissions for example.
