Your new role
This is an excellent opportunity to lead on the development, organisation and management of the University’s environmental sustainability data at the University wide and departmental level.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead on reporting of the University’s environmental sustainability data, at the University-wide and departmental level
- Act as subject-matter expert, advise and make recommendations to the Head of Environmental Sustainability in relation to the University’s reporting and disclosure responsibilities/requirements.
- Proactively identify areas for continual improvement in how the University manages and reports data on its environmental sustainability performance.
- Develop recommendations to the Head of Sustainability, senior management and Committees on areas for improvement.
- Provide expert advice and recommendations to the Head of Environmental Sustainability on which tools/ systems/ processes should be used for compiling, storing and managing the University’s environmental sustainability data, in line with best practice.
- Manage the compilation and provision of data to support annual reporting on the University’s performance against its environmental sustainability performance.
- Lead on developing environmental sustainability performance metrics at the School/ departmental/institution level across the University.
- Lead on the provision of environmental sustainability data to inform and support key projects across the Sustainability Team and wider Estates Division.
- First point of contact for all queries and requests across the Division relating to the University’s environmental sustainability data.
- Lead on development of data needed to monitor progress against the University’s environmental sustainability commitments.
- Lead on analysis of the data to inform the University’s approach to environmental sustainability.
What you'll need to succeed
- A good undergraduate degree, postgraduate qualification or equivalent qualification, preferably in environmental science, sustainability or a related topic.
- Extensive experience of compiling and managing diverse and complex data sets in accordance with best practice.
- Experience of carbon accounting.
- Experienced in using a range of tools/ software/ systems for managing environmental sustainability data.
- Experience of engaging, meeting and working with people from a range of backgrounds and disciplines.
- Experience of designing/ developing / providing environmental sustainability data to different audiences, in a range of formats.
- Knowledge of best practice in the compilation, management and reporting of environmental sustainability data.
- Experience of analysing complex data sets and using these to draw conclusions and develop recommendations with regard to environmental sustainability performance#
- Working knowledge of reporting and disclosure requirements relating to environmental sustainability, in particular in relation to the higher education sector.
- Knowledge of climate and sustainability issues as well as a passion for the subject.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts in a way that is appropriate to the target audience.
